About the Race

WHY RUN IT?

It’s one thing to run a marathon in Antarctica, but another entirely to run a multi-day ultramarathon there! The experience doesn’t come cheap, as there’s a steep entry fee plus you have to have completed at least two other 4 Deserts stage races. But it’s a journey of a lifetime if you can swing it.

“Difficulties are just things to overcome, after all.”

- Ernest Shackleton

The cool part about this Antarctic ultra is that you overnight between stages on an expedition ship and start each stage in a new location! So you’ll experience the highlights of the Antarctic Peninsula – like King George Island and Deception Island – while having a chance to mingle on board with other competitors, which many say is the best part of the whole trip.
