About the Race

WHY RUN IT?

Crossing Patagonian ridge lines and peaks to Refugio Frey, Refugio Jacob, Refugio Laguna Negra, and Refugio Lopez, you’re likely to forget all about the race, focusing instead on the remarkable views. Don’t expect to set any speed records on this course. The vast majority is on steep, rocky slopes that are more suited to scrambling and bouldering than running.

“The world reveals itself to those who travel on foot.”

- Werner Herzog

If you finish in the daylight, you can recover with a cold beer in Colonia Suiza at the finish line. Then head back to beautiful Bariloche and check out its famous chocolate shops, just to complete the feeling that you’ve been transported to the Swiss Alps. When you’re ready to get moving again, there’s plenty to do in the area. But the best post-race activity might be biking the Chico Circuit, a 26 km loop around Lake Nahuel Huapi.
