About the Mountain

WHY SKI HERE?

No matter how early you start your day at Palisades Tahoe, you’ll be awake and stoked by the time you step out of the gondola at 8,200 feet, after 8 minutes of dazzling mountain views. Kick things off with long meandering groomers down to the base, or head still upwards to Siberia Bowl for an adrenaline boost. When you’re warmed up, check out KT-22’s collection of steep black diamonds if you’re an advanced skier, or head to High Camp for easy greens.

“Life is a blank canvas, and you need to throw all the paint on it you can.”

- Danny Kaye

There are plenty of options for getting to Palisades, depending on where you’re coming from and how long you want to stay. If you’re on your own coming from the Bay Area, consider a single-day ski bus, which drops you off in the morning and picks you up when the slopes close. It may sound rough, considering it’s a 4-hour journey each way, but it’s surprisingly easy to sleep on the way there and some give you complimentary wine before the journey home. If you’re coming from out of state, flying into Reno and taking a shuttle is your best bet. But of course the best is carpooling with friends from San Francisco, Sacramento, or Reno, renting a cabin, and taking full advantage of Palisades Tahoe’s awesome après scene.
