Why Go?

What to Expect

Diamonds are what best define Kicking Horse Mountain. With terrain so challenging, you’ll wonder why triple blacks aren’t a thing. It’s a mountain where even advanced skiers need to check the map to ensure they can handle the runs off each lift, and novice skiers should be extremely careful.

"In the mountains, you are sometimes invited, sometimes tolerated, and sometimes told to go home."

-Fred Beckey

On a single run at Kicking Horse, you can encounter steep chutes, fluffy powder, and moguls. That’s partly thanks to the unique terrain and partly just because runs are so long. With a vertical drop of 4,125 feet and no mid-station, you leave yourself with a lot of ground to cover each time you take the lift up.
