About the Race

WHY RUN IT?

Did you know you can thank pigs for the HURT 100? The course is actually run on converted pig trails that have been adapted for human use. Luckily, it seems pigs have an eye for natural beauty too, because the course is absolutely stunning! Think dense jungle, exposed roots, jagged green mountains, and blue skies. Oh, and 24,500 feet of cumulative elevation gain…

“It is the nature of the strong heart, that like the palm tree it strives ever upwards when it is most burdened.”

- Philip Sidney

The HURT 100 is run on the island of O’ahu, near Honolulu. As one of the most touristy parts of Hawaii, they’ll be plenty of choices for your post-race meal. But there’s also plenty more nature to explore, like Diamond Head, Hanauma Bay, and Manoa Falls. So either arrive early or save a bit of your leg strength for some post-race hikes. Besides hiking, some popular adventure activities to try in Hawaii include surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, skydiving, paragliding, and stargazing at high altitude on a volcano.
