WHY SKI HERE?

Planning a ski trip to Iran may not be the easiest, especially when you have to consider political flare-ups and visa restrictions on top of snow conditions. But if you can make it there, not only will you have access to diverse, untouched, high-altitude terrain, but you’ll also get to experience why many travelers call Iran one of the friendliest places they’ve visited. There are so many incredible ski areas in Iran that you’ll want to plan your trip carefully to make the most of it. For that, there’s no better resource than Ski of Persia, a comprehensive website for skiing Iran.

“The snow is perfect, the views spectacular and you have to pinch yourself to remember you are in Iran.”

- Dom Joly

Dizin is the largest ski resort in Iran, located in one of the best areas for skiing in the central Alborz range. Its location near Koloon Bastak will put this relatively easy 13,750-foot summit at your fingertips, requiring only a short drive and a 2-hour hike from the car park. For more of a challenge – a lot more – you can head to Mount Damavand instead. This 18,400-foot peak is the second highest in Iran and it’s a common objective for ski mountaineers. For something more in the middle, you can visit the Zagros mountain range, using the town of Chelgerd as a base while you explore countless ski touring routes, or the region of Dena, using Shiraz as a base.
