About the Race

WHY RUN IT?

With all the focus on Everest and Annapurna, most people don’t know a region like Mustang exists in Nepal. It’s a shame, because it’s one of the most beautiful and interesting places on Earth! Running along historic trade routes, the Mustang Trail race will take you to charming villages, Hindu temples, and wild landscapes unlike anything you’ve ever seen.

“That my complicated life could be made so simple was astounding.”

- Cheryl Strayed

Part of the reason Mustang is lesser known is that it was only opened to tourism in 1992. That’s why some call this culturally Tibetan area a ‘forbidden kingdom.’ Caught in the rain shadows of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Massif, Mustang is a high-altitude desert with striking geologic features you won’t be able to stop dreaming about after you leave. If you like getting to know offbeat regions of the world, where most travelers will never set foot, this is definitely a region worth adding to your bucket list.
