About the Mountain

WHY CLIMB IT?

Mera Peak (21,245 ft) is the most accessible Himalayan mountain above 20,000 feet, as it’s non-technical and can be summited in just 3 weeks. It’s an excellent choice for advanced beginner climbers who want to undertake a major expedition and see the Himalayas up close without going beyond their experience level. It’s also perfect for climbers who enjoy the cultural side of mountaineering, as the Mera Peak trek passes through rural countryside dotted with Sherpa villages, tea houses, and Buddhist stupas.

“On a clear day you will see five of the six highest mountains on Earth...It’s a truly memorable view that you will never forget.”

- Mark Horrell

The views from Mera Peak are breathtaking. Located in the Everest region, you’ll be able to see Mount Everest (29,029 ft), Lhotse (27,940 ft), Makalu (27,820 ft), and Baruntse (23,390 ft) from the summit. The trek up to this point is beautiful in its own right, featuring glaciers, frozen lakes, and blankets of snow set against a panorama of jagged Himalayan peaks. Although you’ll undoubtedly be ready to descend to lower altitudes by the end of your journey, since life above 20,000 feet is a constant challenge, the memories you make on the mountain will leave a part of you wishing you could stay there forever.
