About the Mountain

WHY SKI HERE?

Coronet Peak is New Zealand’s oldest commercial ski field, dating back to 1947. It also offers the longest ski days in the region, since you can kick things off early with a ‘First Tracks’ pass and continue well after sunset with night skiing.

“Nature gives to every time and season some beauties of its own.”

- Charles Dickens

With views of Lake Wakatipu from the slopes, Coronet Peak sets a new standard for scenic skiing. All around are mountains, lakes, rivers, rolling hills, and farmland, often of the wine-growing variety. There’s so much to explore in the region – not to mention in nearby Milford Sound and Aoraki National Park – that you’ll wish you had weeks there.
