About the Mountain

WHY SKI HERE?

Skiing The Remarkables is a highlight of any winter trip to New Zealand, accessible to even beginner skiers thanks to its large learning area. With striking views of Lake Wakatipu, The Remarkables has a great network of lift-served backcountry trails off Shadow Basin, including a mile-long run called the Homeward Bound Trail.

“In the presence of nature, a wild delight runs through the man, in spite of real sorrows.”

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

The best part about The Remarkables is its location just 45 minutes from Queenstown, a trip made even easier by convenient shuttles. As the ‘adventure capital’ of New Zealand, Queenstown offers hundreds of adrenaline-oriented activities – like skydiving and bungee jumping – most of which remain open in the winter. There’s even an epic Queenstown Winter Festival in June that features live music, fireworks, snow biking, snow tubing, dodgeball, and a dog derby.
