WHY SKI HERE?

Journey to the backside of Snowbird and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to a Frontierland ride in Disney World. A conveyor system transports you to Mineral Basin through a 600-foot tunnel lined with old mining tools and photos. From there, you can take the Baldy lift up to the Alta-Snowbird Interconnect.

Before you try to pass through the gate into Alta, make sure you’re on skis – boards are prohibited at Alta – and have a lift ticket that covers both mountains, like a Mountain Collective, Ikon, or AltaBird pass. Once you’re there, check out Alta’s advanced and expert off-trail workshops. These relatively inexpensive training sessions last 2.5 hours and teach you to take on a wider variety of terrain, including Utah’s famous deep, dry powder.
