About the Mountain

WHY SKI HERE?

As its name suggests, you’ll have plenty of space to roam the slopes free of crowds at Solitude. Despite its convenience to Salt Lake City airport, its varied terrain, and its world-class snow, Solitude remains a hidden treasure for those in the know about all it offers. It even has the steepest groomed run in Utah, appropriately named ‘Challenger.’ So check it out before the rest of the ski world catches on.

“Until you step into the unknown, you don’t know what you’re made of.”

- Roy T. Bennett

If you’re an advanced skier at Solitude, you’ll undoubtedly spend a lot of time in Honeycomb Canyon, dropping into open bowls before winding through tight trees. Then on your off days, you can do something a bit different and explore the Solitude Nordic Center, a 12-mile network of tree-lined, well-groomed cross-country trails. Ikon pass holders get highly discounted rates and it’s beginner-friendly, so it’s a good place to trial a different style of skiing in a low-risk environment.
