About the Mountain

WHY SKI HERE?

While you’re more likely to find packed powder than fluffy accumulations at Stowe, at least you’ll find something to ski on. Stowe has greater and more consistent snowfall than surrounding resorts, earning it the title ‘the Snow Capital of the East.’

“Shut up, live, travel, adventure, bless and don't be sorry.”

- Jack Kerouac

Beyond its steep, rugged terrain and excellent backcountry trails, a highlight of skiing Stowe is being based in a classic New England mountain town, complete with wood cabins and tall steeples. For a true taste of local culture, check out Laughing Moon Chocolates and Shaw’s General Store, where you can buy Vermont maple syrup and farm-fresh cheese.
